MPET donates 9.200 euro to Kinderkankerfonds

On Monday, March 31, 2025, one of our colleagues presented a cheque for €9,200 to the nonprofit 'Kinderkankerfonds' to support their ‘DeLIEving’ project at UZ Ghent.

Each year, MPET collects scrap metal. The proceeds are traditionally donated to various charitable causes - one of which is the Kinderkankerfonds. Head of IT, Tamara Lievens, handed over the cheque on behalf of MPET at the DeLIEving space in UZ Ghent.

Our choice to support this organization stems from a deep respect for the vital role it plays in the lives of children affected by this devastating illness.

“I’m proud that we’re able to support the Kinderkankerfonds - a charity that touches all of our hearts,” said Lievens. “Our choice to support this organization stems from a deep respect for the vital role it plays in the lives of children affected by this devastating illness.”

Kinderkankerfonds

In Belgium, 350 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. That’s 350 families whose lives are permanently changed. For over 30 years, the Kinderkankerfonds has been working to improve the quality of life for these children and their families. The foundation also funds scientific research into pediatric cancer.

One of their projects, DeLIEving at UZ Ghent, offers a welcoming space for siblings of hospitalized children or children whose parent is receiving treatment. It’s a place where they can play, eat, do crafts, and complete homework - all under the care and guidance of educational staff.
