Time slot management and spreading surcharge

To make optimal use of the terminal's capacity, MPET aims to better distribute truck arrivals and encourage night transport. To achieve this, MPET is implementing a strict enforcement of time slots and a spreading surcharge during peak hours.

Strict time slot enforcement via MPET Connect

Truck visits can no longer be booked via ePortal, but must be scheduled through MPET Connect. Appointments made via ePortal before before November 17th 2025 will remain valid.

What does this mean for you?
  • Time slots between 06:00 and 20:00: 1-hour slots with a margin of 30 minutes before and 1 hour after the booked time.
  • Time slots between 20:00 and 06:00: broader time slots apply at night, with the same margin of 30 minutes before and 1 hour after the booked time.

An overview of the applicable time slots can be found here.

Introduction of spreading surcharge during peak hours

Starting 1 December 2025, MPET will introduce a spreading surcharge for truck visits during peak hours. Picking up or delivering a container at night remains free of charge.

What does this mean for you?
  • Time slots between 06:00 and 20:00 (peak hours): a surcharge of €15.00 (excl. VAT) will be applied per truck visit.
  • Time slots between 20:00 and 06:00 (off-peak hours): no surcharge –  visits during off-peak hours remain free.

The surcharge is applied per truck visit, not per container, to encourage bundled trips.

When booking an appointment during peak hours, the distribution surcharge will automatically be deducted via the digital wallet of Portomundi .

For time slots during the night, an amount of €5.00 (excl. VAT) will be reserved. This amount will only be charged in case of a no-show or late cancellation.

What is expected of you?

To be able to book truck visits from November 17, 2025, you must create an MPET Connect account via the Portomundi wallet.
